Dinner location changed
JACKSON (March 7, 2007) A late surge in ticket sales has forced the Mississippi Democratic Party to move the location of the 2007 Democratic Elected Officials Appreciation Dinner on Friday night. The event will now take place at 7 p.m. at the Greater Mt. Calvary Family Life Center, 1400 Robinson Road in Jackson. A crowd of more than 300 is expected to attend. Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, chair of the Democratic Governors Association, will be the guest speaker. Sebelius is in her second term as governor; she serves on the National Governors Association Executive Committee. The Mississippi Democratic Party also will present several awards including the Evelyn Gandy Award for the top Democratic state legislator and the Outstanding County Elected Officials Awards for a Democratic elected official in each of the states four congressional districts. <DIRECTIONS> Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius will be available for media interviews immediately following her speech. Democratic candidates in this years elections including those running for governor, lieutenant governor and other statewide posts also will be available for interviews.
